The opposite is also regrettably true.

What is a mindset even? – a mindset according to Carol Dweck, is your perception of basic qualities malleability regarding intelligence and talent.
Are you intelligent?
Can you improve your intelligence with effort?

Do you have a growth mindset or a fixed mindset?
This is important since to develop a successful mindset, you’ll need the former and not the latter.
If you have a growth mindset, you believe that your intelligence is malleable. And that you can improve your talent through dedication, hard work, good strategies, and even criticism.
Whereas if you have a fixed mindset, you’re the complete opposite. You believe your intelligence and talent to be fixed traits. And you’ll have excuses to justify your failures as well as shy away from anything demanding effort.
Now, that you know what’s required. Let’s see exactly what’s needed to develop a successful mindset and ultimately become a success.
What You Need To Develop A Successful Mindset.
1. Have A Positive Self-Talk.
How is your internal monologue?
Is it positive or self-defeating?
If it’s the latter then there’s no way for you to move forward.
Putting yourself down and doubting your abilities isn’t smart.
You’ll only end up depressed and in despair.
What you need is to accept who you are and win yourself back by not fighting yourself.
Remember, the only person you‘ll need to be better than is the person you were yesterday.
So, watch what you say to yourself.
“The mind is everything. What you think you become.” – Buddha.
The secret here is to always make your self-talk positive. And an easier way to do this is through cognitive reframing.
“I can’t get anything to work,” becomes, “I enjoy a challenge.” “I’m such a loser,” becomes, “I know I will be successful.”

2. Dream Big And Set Smart, Achievable, Action-Plan Goals.
To keep developing a successful mindset, you need to keep feeling like a success.
And to feel successful you need to keep achieving. And this is where setting and achieving goals comes into play.
A goal has to be significant enough for you to credit it as a success when you achieve it. Then you break it down into smaller, fast-achievable ones to keep you feeling successful as well as track your progress.
Getting in the habit of setting and working tirelessly to achieving your goals will make a positive difference in your mindset.
Obstacles won’t be as scary as before. And your resolve to achieve your dream will keep pushing you out of your comfort zone.

3. Grow Your Grit.
If you’re the type of person who quits whenever you experience setbacks and failures, you might be lacking grit.
Grit is the sustained application of effort towards a long-term goal. And it’s what prevents us from giving up when faced with challenges.
But how can one grow their grit?
According to Angela Duckworth (the foremost authority on grit). One can grow their grit by:
- Developing a fascination with their goals.
- Striving to improve each day by practicing deliberately.
- Reminding oneself of the greater purpose.
- Adopting a growth mindset.
And if talent is your excuse, effort is twice more according to her too.
So, stop holding yourself back from taking action all because you think you’re untalented.

4. Decisively Strategize And Execute.
It doesn’t matter how good a goal setter you are. If you cannot decisively come up with a strategy to achieve your goals and execute it properly. You’ll find little to no success.
Earlier we talked of breaking down a significant goal into bite-sized, fast achievable goals.
An example would be to break down a $10,000 a week goal into smaller goals of: $100, $500, $1,000, $2,500, $5,000, and $10,000.
But the strategy needed to reach each milestone will vary as you go up the challenges. If you’re a blogger, you’ll find getting $100 weeks doable with ads alone.
But to ramp up your income, you’ll have to use other smart strategies like email and affiliate marketing, selling your own courses and services, accepting sponsored posts, selling direct advertising,… etc.
Even so, how you execute any of these strategies will determine your after results mental attitude.
The key here is to act and do so determinedly without the fear of failure to instill self-trust.
5. Learn Continually.
You cannot successfully develop a successful mindset if you’re closed to new ideas.
You’d rather be a learn-it-all than a know-it-all.
If you don’t understand how to do something, don’t be afraid to let go of your ego and ask for help.
It’s better to get help now than waste time struggling and eventually fail feeling defeated and proving you didn’t know.
Learning new things increases your sense of achievement and boosts your self-confidence.
And not only this but you’ll feel more ready to take on new challenges and explore new business opportunities.
Literally speaking, you’ll have to get comfortable with the uncomfortable.
In conclusion, if you want to develop a successful mindset, it will be crucial for you to cultivate these 5 things.
I’m not saying it will be easy. It will take time and effort.
But if you want success bad enough, you’ll find a way to do it.
